BBC – Marcella Jean Lee, 56, was detained on Thursday about 100 miles (160km) south of Goldsboro, where her mum’s remains were discovered.
She faces a felony charge of failure to report a death, according to police.
Police had been searching for Ms Lee for more than three months after a neighbour discovered the body of Arma Roush, 75, inside the freezer.
A post-mortem examination showed no signs of foul play in Ms Roush’s death.
A neighbour bought the freezer for $30 (£23).
You never know what you’re going to find at a garage sale. Sometimes it’s a vintage antique that your aunt can take on Antique Road Show and get you a bunch of money for. Sometimes it’s a freezer with the dead body of your neighbor’s mother inside. The garage sale giveth, and the garage sale taketh away.
They say there was no foul play involved in the death of Marcella Lee’s mother, so I’m wondering what her end game here was. Did her mother die so Lee put her in the freezer to keep her fresh until they could arrange a funeral? Did her mother fall in and freeze to death and no one noticed that she was missing? Did she hope that whoever bought the freezer wouldn’t open it until they got home? You paid $30 for a freezer, but now the body of the woman inside is yours too. You have to plan the funeral and arrange the memorial service. That’s the law. Don’t you dare try to go back to Ms. Lee’s garage sale and try to get your money back, all sales are final, says so right on the sign with the dollar store balloons out front. Your best course of action here is to just take care of the body, hose that baby out and fill ‘er up with all the Totino’s pizza rolls that money can buy.

How about the psycho that bought the freezer after they cleaned it out. You couldn’t talk a few more bucks off the final price? Seems to me like finding your neighbor’s dead mother in the freezer you just bought gives you quite a bit of leverage in this negotiation, but that’s just me. Maybe it was a really nice freezer.
